Summer Drawing Class: Gabby's study of light and shadow

Our last class focused on drawing light & shadows by drawing an in-class still life. Gabby really gained a sense of form through her observations of light & shadows.

Gabby had already had considerable drawing skills before she took my class. Her confidence with adding tone to her drawings increased as the class continued.

Jessica has sensitive line work which adds so much detail to her drawings. She gained the courage to draw toward the end of our classes after being taught a few skills. Her biggest comment was that "She Can See Now!"

This is a sketch for an illustration of Bashar Assad. I was asked by illustrator Bud Cook to work on this portrait together with his version.

Hallie Tedeschi: Great Artist, Great Hands!

Hallie Tedeschi, whom I am well aquainted with, took my class recently. She is a very talented teenager looking to make art a career. So I wasn't sure I would be able to teach her anything new but I think I did. Above are the before and after drawings of her hands. I think she got something out of my class.
